Amongst the issues considered are; the choice of the number and the spacing of reference sets, structural identification, and the problems encountered when periodic i/o data is used for identification. INTRODUCTION Some industrial processes are difficult to control using conventional techniques due to significant non-linearity and/or poorly understood process mechanisms.
