Abstract
Study of corrosion inhibition power of some quaternary amonium salts for acid pickling bath of carbon steels M.D. Capelato, R.C.B. Silva Escola de Engenharia Industrial Metalurgica de Volta Redonda - Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF), Av. dos Trabalhadores 420 CEP 27260-740 Volta Redonda, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Companhia Siderurgica Nacional (CSN), Brasil Acid pickling baths for carbon steel are widely used industrially in order to eliminate the iron scales which are formed on the steel surface during the making processes, thermal treatment or their storage. In this paper, corrosion inhibitors such as quaternary amonium salts are investigated upon their corrosion inhibition efficiency. Immersion method is conducted in order to determine the inhibition corrosion efficiency of these compounds. On the other hand, carbon steel surface state is observed through microscopy techniques, after treating steel surface with inhibitors. 1 Introduction Acid pickling bath for carbon stee
