Abstract
; A new approach is proposed for the synthetic mechanics of soil based on the consideration on the soil particle scale by the probability theory. In this approach participate material such as soil is regarded as an assembly of particles and voids filled with gas and/or fluid, i.e., a multi-phases' material. From this point of view the mechanical behaviors of soil are investigated based on the motion of particles and fluids in voids. In this paper the proposed approach is briefly reviewed for the compression and shearing, the saturated-unsaturated permeability, consolidation, heat transfer, the debris flow. 1. INTRODUCTION It is commonly said by geotechnical researchers and engineers that the modern soil mechanics was established by K. Terzaghi (1925). The style of the current soil mechanics is considere
