Abstract
The purpose of this work is to generalize the study of a mathematical model to a piezoviscous lubricant displacement between an elastic and a rigid surface. The hydrodynamic part of the problem is governed by the Reynolds equation combined with the cavitation model of Elrod-Adams and the piezoviscous relation given by Barus law. Elastic deformation of the journal-bearing device with thin bearing is taken into account by means of the elastic hinged plate biharmonic equation. For numerical purposes a generalization of a previous iterative algorithm for the isoviscous case is introduced to uncouple the hydrodynamic and the elastic parts of the problem.
