Abstract
Highly loaded mechanical links are subject to great surface deformations, particularly for compliant structures. If, moreover, the loads are very important, the fluid behaviour is no longer Newtonian. The proposed communication presents algorithms which produce the main characteristics from the engineer's point of view : film pressure, stresses and strains in solid bodies, kinematic parameters. These algorithms are based on the finite element method, a complementarity schema associated with a mass-conserving model and the Newton-Raphson method Results presented relative to two examples show the efficiency of the algorithms developed. The first results refer to the connecting- rod of an Fl automotive engine. The second example concerns a linear hertzian contact.
