Abstract
Recently, there has been some concern regarding the use of polymer based composite materials in lieu of metallic restorative materials. In this study, we seek to model indentation as a means of eventually modelling the pin-on-disc wear test as it is used to cause fatigue wear. The material selected is a possible replacement for metallic dental restorative materials. The primary objective of this paper is to study the distribution of the stresses and the corresponding strain behavior around the contact area in order to edify crack phenomena. The results show that, at certain loads, the tensile stresses are sufficient to form ring cracks in the samples surfaces around the indenters. Further finite element a
