Abstract
A microscopic Dry Sliding Contact Thermal Model (DSCTM) in which friction heat is generated in a volume underneath the contacting area is used to determine the two parameters a and R^ of a macroscopic DSCTM. A comparison between the temperature fields given by the microscopic and macroscopic models show that the temperature distributions are the same far enough from the contacting interface. A sensitivity study of the microscopic geometry parameters and the dimensionless sliding velocity on the two parameters a and R^ of interest is done Introduction Three main macroscopic DSCTM exist. The perfect contact model [1] for which the temperature of the two contacting surfaces are equal and the friction heat is generated at the contacting interface. It does not represent the reality becaus
