In this paper the damage phenomena in Al-Li alloy are investigated. The application of the COM model requires the indentification of some parameters that are directly related to the material under investigation. In this paper the experimental procedure used to monitor damage accumulation under progressive tensile loads is presented in details and the practical difficulties and the corrections necessary to avoid errors in the measurements are also discussed.
