China ABSTRACT By use of the compact tension shear specimen (CTS), the mixed mode (I+II) fracture test for bearing steel GCrlS was carried out Experimental results and further analysis show, the fracture failure accords with the elliptic law by biparameter K% and K%, approximately, and the fracture properties ( the Crack propagation initiation angle 6^ etc ) relate to the shape and size of the crack tip plastic zone. INTRODUCTION Since the 1970s fracture mechanics has been applied to solve the problems of the mechanism and regular pattern of the contact fatigue spoiling failure [1,2,3,4]. The initiation, propagation and spelling failure of contact fatigue crack are n
