Evaluation system of plastic deformation in elasto visco-plastic body with crack by infrared thermography H. Sakamoto, I. Oda, T. Doi, M. Yamamoto Department of Mechanical Engineering, Kumamoto University, 2-39-1 Kurokami, Kumamoto 860, Japan ABSTRACT A evaluation method of plastic deformation in strain rate dependence materials from thermal image in deforming was proposed. Heat distributions of specimen's surface which is generated by the plastic deformation, are measured by infrared thermal camera and computer simulation of temperature rise according to plastic deformation was performed. In the simulation, elasto/visco-plastic FE analysis coupled with transient heat conduction analysis was used. From the comparison between experimental results and analytical ones, the propriety of this non-contact measurement system of plastic deformation by thermal video system was discussed.
