Abstract We developed a special combination of vortex method with particle trajectory tracking method for internal unsteady two-phase flows. This method is a completely grid-free Lagrangian-Lagrangian simulation, which is applicable to simulate the interactions between particles and fluid flow structures. Vortex method provides Lagrangian calculation of unsteady, high Reynolds number and vortical flows without use of any conventional time-averaged turbulence models. However, there are few applications of this method to internal multiphase flows, though many industrial flows are internal. In this study, internal unsteady liquid-solid two-phase flows had been analyzed by the new method simplified as one-
