Abstract
Spectrum of acoustic noise excited by collapse of spherical bubble in viscoelastic liquid L. Likhterov Institute for Applied Research, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel Abstract The expression for the high frequency asymptotics of the acoustic noise spectrum induced by collapse of a spherical bubble in viscoelastic liquid (Oldroyd model B) is derived taking into account the liquid compressibility. It is shown that, in the first approximation, the spectral density of the acoustic energy emitted by a cavity collapse varies as the following function of the frequency: S(o) - o4 exp( -6aw2 ) and decreases approximately by 12 decibels per octave in the considered case of dimensionless parameters. 1 Introduction The study of acoustic emission arising during bubble's growth and collapse is associated with acoustic detection techniques used for early boiling detection. The experimental and theoretical results may be useful for detection of acoustic noise in high-voltage power supplies and mic
