Abstract
The use of a full-wave 3D technique in a CAD oriented analysis: the TLM method F. Ndagijimana, P. Saguet LEMO - ENSERG, BP 257, 38016 Grenoble Cedex, France ABSTRACT A full wave 3D technique oriented to CAD simulations of high frequency devices is presented. The technique is based on the TLM method which computes the electromagnetic field in any passive structure comprising dielectrics and metallizations with any shape. Our technique is applied to the characterization of discontinuities involved in packaging interconnections. The [S] parameters of a discontinuity are extracted from the electromagnetic fields computed in the different ports of the device. Then an equivalent network of the n-port may be extracted for use in CAD simulator such as SPICE, MDS (Microwave Design System)... We describe the different steps involved in the analysis : mesh elaboration, simulation, and result processing. The performances of our technique are demonstrated on a microstrip discontinuit
