Abstract

The paper presents considerations concerning theoretical modeling of cavitation inception and development in a turbulent flow. Cavitation is understood as a result of interaction of dynamic pressure field on nuclei suspended in a liquid. It is assumed that the characteristics of the flow are known. The model presented in the paper is based on stochastic methods. The application of those methods for prediction of cavitation inception and development arises from the probabilistic properties of considered phenomenon. The characteristics of cavitation nuclei content of water as well as the characteristics of the flow field are random. The paper contains the description of the model and its discussion. The numerical application of the model and predictions obtained on its base are presented and discussed. 1. Introduction Adequate prediction of cavitati
