Abstract
A numerical prediction of turbulent combustion flows with a large eddy simulation (LES) is applied to a combustion equipment design. Numerical methods and models for turbulent combustion are developed for the LES of the premixed combustion flows and validated with a test chamber, which examines a practical combustion design in a gas-turbine system. A comparison with the experiment indicates that the present method can predict a turbulence velocity Held and also capture an instantaneous three-dimensional flame structure. A flame propagation process is also investigated by time dependent visualization from this simulation. 1.
