Abstract
From the mathematical point of view, the reinforcement of soils by geotex- tiles and piles may have the same origin. A contact problem is solved in any case together with nonlinear behavior of the soil. The contact condi- tions mostly obey Mohr-Coulomb hypothesis as the most general condition along the interface soil-pile, soil-geotextile, or stones-clay. The drilled piles are mostly vertical structures (not exclusively) and geotextiles are mostly horizontal structures (again not exclusively). In practise, 3D finite elements are considered and the contact problem is solved in various versions in a simple connected domain, see e. g. Prochazka fe Sejnoha^. Consequently, the states of engineering stages can very hard be described. This is why the behaviour of the soil is simulated by particles, which are connected
