Abstract
This paper addresses a method to avoid slip oscillations of contact nodes resulting from lack of C\ -continuity of finite element discretizations in or- der to stabilize the contact algorithm for 2D contact analyses. Based on the actual finite element boundary, a virtual boundary with C\ -continuity is established. The respective consistent contact matrix is derived. Selected numerical examples have demonstrated the effectiveness of the method. 1 Introduction Many algorithms [1,2,3,4] were devised to tackle contact problems in indus- try and research. At present, one of the key points for numerical ana
