Abstract
During the gear meshing, gear tooth flanks are subjected to rolling and sliding contact conditions. The resulting friction, wear and damage of tooth flanks depend on different tribological parameters. The majority of gears need to be lubricated with oil of grease, otherwise the wear is increased so much that the service life of meshing gears is very short. Non lubricated gears are only used in cases where lubrication is impossible and the loading is very small. The presented paper describes a new combined approach for determining the basic gear parameters, which in addition to the classic strength control comprises also important information concerning the lubricant film th
