Abstract
An algorithm of contact is presented for the boundary element analysis of the static two-dimensional contact problem between elastic solids. Quadratic isoparametric boundary elements are used and the contact conditions are imposed by a direct constraint technique (strong form) with a fully incremental loading strategy. The algorithm allows us to deal with problems undergoing large displacements, with large slipping at the interface, without the need of changes in the initial discretization of the boundary of the bodies because the mismatching of contact nodes is allowed. The formulation is limited to elastic behaviour with small strains and a Coulomb friction law is assumed. Special attention is devoted to the friction effe
