Abstract
Typically, the measured accuracy of a linear slideway is based on straight line point-to-point motions: pausing at each point for a laser displacement measurement. The slideway accuracy is then a function of the methods used to assemble the slideway components and the quality of components such as the bearing's precision, the actuator positioning ability, and the accuracy and resolution of the position feedback device [1]. What is not measured is the motion profile accuracy as the slideway moves between points, and a series of points form a contour and may be coordinated with more than one slideway. This motion profile accuracy is influenced by the slideway components, but more importantly, by the performance of the motion control syste
