Abstract
A global analysis of numerical methods aimed at the direct computation of the field quantities in case of stationary and static electromagnetic fields is presented. The examined numerical methods allow similar computer code implementations around general purpose, finite element software kernel. The fundamentally different character of the methods is a direct conse- quence of the different interpretation given to the field quantities and of the choices made for their discretisation. 1 Introduction The computation of the stationary and static electric and magnetic fields remains one of the most widely addressed subjects in the field of numerical modelling of electromagnetic fields.
