Abstract
This paper presents computational fluid dynamics simulations of air flow, temperature field and convection heat transfer distribution generated over a cluster of traditional Balinese buildings. The effects of roof type and position of buildings on the convection heat distribution around the buildings were analysed. Solar heat and building orientation are considered in the computation in order to increase the prediction accuracy of the analyses. The paper reports on a series of numerical experiments using CFD techniques, based on a k — 8 turbulence model, in an attempt to quantify the influence of geometrical parameters of traditional Balinese buildings on the convection heat transfer distribution. Initially, two-dimensional model
