Abstract
Heat transfer in a furnace used for the growth ofZnSeviaPVTandCVT U. Rehse, W. Miller & K. Bottcher Germany Email: ur@ikz-berlin.de Abstract Two- and three-dimensional steady-state simulations of temperature field and fluid flow in a growth furnace with ten heating zones that contains a horizontally arranged cylindrical ceramic pipe filled with air have been done by using the commercial finite-element package FIDAP. The Navier-Stokes equation with the Boussinesq approximation is solved. In addition, internal radiation exchange is calculated. The investigated equipment is used to grow Zinc Selenide (ZnSe) single crystals via physical (PVT) or chemical vapour transport (CVT) in a glass ampoule which is located in the central region of that pipe. As a result of the 2D (two-dimensional) axisymmetric analysis, while still excluding gas convection and the growth ampoule, a fairly good agreement between nu- merical and experimental temperature values is yielded, though there is still
