Abstract
The objective of the study was to carry out appropriate validation studies leading to an assessment of the CFD codes for predicting reburn fuel jets penetration. The study has been performed under conditions relevant to application of the NOx rebuming technology in boilers and municipal waste incinerators. Comprehensive 3-dimensional numerical simulations of turbulent flows in an isothermal model of a wall-fired boiler have been carried out. Special attention was given to the jets representing reburn fuel injectors. The predictions have been validated against the measured data.
