Abstract
A comparison among different approaches for the evaluation of the air traffic demand elasticity M. N. Postorino Faculty of Engineering - DIMET " Mediterranea" Reggio Calabria University, Italy Abstract The analysis of the air demand reactions to variations in costs or income (or other significant variables that are thought to influence the demand level) is very important in order to evaluate the efficacy of some policy measures. These reactions can be measured by using the concept of demand elasticity. This paper proposes an analysis of the elasticity measures obtained by using different models. A classification of the main air demand models presented in the literature is proposed together with the evaluation of the correspondent demand elasticity. Some theoretical analyses about the comparability of the elasticity values obtained with different approaches are also presented. 1 Introduction The increase of the air transport demand in the last decades, helped also by the deregulation policy,
