Abstract
Measurement of vertical number concentration profiles of airborne particles near an urban roadway A. Micallef ' & J. A novel sampling method, the Kinetic Sequential Sampling (KSS) system, has been used to measure vertical number concentration profiles of various size fractions of airborne particles, within an urban street canyon. In the preliminary study, measurements were carried out over the first three metres from ground. It was found that larger particles exhibit a slightly larger concentration gradient as compared to the smaller particle sizes; and the concentration of the latter was about two orders of magnitude higher than that for larger particle sizes. Both findings may have implications on human health especially for groups breath
