Abstract
New trends in hydrology: the role played by innovative technologies A. Colagrossi & P. Gasparri APAT-Agenzia per la Protezione dell'Ambiente ed i Sewizi Tecnici Nazionali, Italy Abstract The hydrological cycle comprises all the events connected with the natural movement of water on the surface of the earth, which puts into communication the air, the land and the sea. Social and economic development are deeply dependent on the hydrological cycle, which is the most fundamental principle of hydrology. Thus, several efforts are devoted to apply the new technologies to the evaluation of the elements that contribute to the hydrological cycle. In this paper we take into consideration some available and well consolidated technologies, such as satellites, networks, databases and geographic information systems in order to integrate them for hydrological purposes. In particular, we also present a project concerning the development of a hydrological analysis system integrating geographical and time series
