Abstract

Evaluating feasibility of a sustainable greenhouse heating through renewable energy sources D. Chinese, A. Meneghetti & G. Nardin DiEM - Department o f Energy Technologies, University of Udine, Italy Abstract High consumption and large heating loads characterise greenhouse heating even where climate is temperate. In this paper, technical and economical feasibility of a sustainable greenhouse heating through energy recovery from a waste-toenergy plant are investigated using a combination of simulation and optimisation approaches. For the technical optimisation of the heating system, we choose floor heating and introduce a non linear optimisation model to maximise the heat flow supplied by the system, provided that technical constraints are respected. A second model for economical optimisation is elaborated from the perspective of greenhouse entrepreneurs. The aim of this mixed integer linear programming model is to select the minimum cost heating configuration to meet heating demand. The models
