Abstract

A new form of regression is introduced that has many applications to environmental stud- ies. For a sequence composed of key variates with prototypic value x, this form differs from the estimation of a location parameter-based curve, fi(x), scale parameter-based curve, a(x), or other currently used types of regression. Instead of estimating a curve lo- cation, scale, or oc-quantile parameter, it assumes that there exist two or more population subgroups, for example, consisting of unsensitized and sensitized individuals. Although within each subgroup the relationships |i(x) or a(x) may or may not be horizontal, these relationships, in and of themselves, are not deemed to be of primary importance. I
