Abstract
A decision support technique for sustainable community design evaluation using qualitative design data Samuel S. Afolayan & Richard P. Perron Faculty of Architecture, University of Manitoba, Canada. Abstract This paper proposes a new approach to analyzing design data for decision support. The paradigm shift involves the decomposition of community design into component features that can be formally (scientifically) evaluated using the fuzzy analytical approach. We present a disaggregate approach to analyzing consumers' receptivity of sustainable community design alternatives using the fuzzy decision analysis technique. A hypermedia interface is used to present design data to sample subjects, in both controlled and 'natural' environments, for assessment. The Fuzzy Group Decision-Making technique (FDGM) is used to calibrate a decision- support model from the qualitative data obtained in consumer receptivity surveys. FGDM is found to be more appropriate than conventional descriptive and cr
