Abstract
The transport and fate of microbial particles in porous media occur in various fields such as septic tank systems, groundwater pollution problems and well drilling operations. In this study, governing equations for bacterial particle transport in a porous column are obtained by employing a simplified version of the one-dimensional form of the equations proposed by Corapcioglu and Haridas (1985). This model will serve as a tool in the long-term evaluation of the risk of accumulation of biological contamination (bacterial and viruses) entering soil and groundwater. Later, analytical and numerical solutions are obtained. Results are compared with experimental data to validate the mathematical model. A sensitivity analysis shows a lower concen
