Abstract
With the increasing urbanization and rapid economic growth in South Africa, there is a growing need for both an efficient utilization of ground water storage and waste disposal. It is therefore becoming urgent to get more acquainted with the flow of water or pollutant through unsaturated soils. Flow through unsaturated soils is very difficult to simulate because of the high nonlinearity associated with soil physical parameters. In this study we develop a numerical algorithm based on the boundary integral theory, which previously has not been easily applied to study flows through unsaturated porous media. Some encouraging results were obtained when the results from this approach were compared with those found in literature. 1 Introduction Most of the major activiti
