Abstract
A probabilistic model is proposed to evaluate the cumulative distribution function (CDF) of the economic loss of Italian dwellings due to seismic events. The methodology used at the Italian National Seismic Survey is outlined and some results are presented. 1 Introduction The aim of the study is the evaluation of the seismic total risk for the Italian dwellings in terms of economical losses. The total risk is the combined effect of the different possible seismic events that might occur and the different ways in which the element at risk may respond to each event.
