Abstract

In this paper, we present the results of a statistical analysis (for the time period 1978-1995) and a relative strategic survey of the magnitude of oil pollution from ships in the Mediterranean Sea. The Mediterranean Sea is a very sensitive and closed ecosystem which makes the need of protection from oil pollution imperative. The electronic tool of "SPILLASE" which administrates in a multi-fold manner the data base from the REMPEC Organization in Malta, is a contribution to that direction.
