Abstract
Ohfunato Bay locates in the North-east part of Japan, and the water quality and physical structures inside the bay are strongly affected by climate such as air pressure arrangements around Japan and typhoons and ocean currents. From the present study, it is revealed that the water mass inside the bay is strongly related to the tidal level along Japanese coast facing to Pacific Ocean over the scale of 3,000km from Nemuro (Hokkaido) to Naha (Okinawa). Low salinity water which is a part of Oyashio ocean current intrudes in Ohfunato bay from April to October in the average year. Also, we found that low salinity water is carried by typhoon from ocean into Ohfunato bay. 1 Introduction In the study
