Abstract
Brazil extracts 70% percent of its oil production from Campos Basin. Petrobras, a Brazilian oil company, is promoting an environment pre-monitoring study of this area. In addition to traditional analysis techniques, we are using LIDAR spectroscopy in order to compare it with these well established techniques. In this paper we present our first results using an intuitive and flexible visualization tool for spatial distribution of different fluorescent materials in water, as the phytoplankton and other pigments, humic compounds or petrogenic hydrocarbons. A Nd:YAG LIDAR coupled with a GPS receiver is used to acquire georeferenced fluorescence spectra of marine water. Emission spectra excited with a 532nm (second harmonic) pulse
