Abstract
Numerous ecological studies have been performed on the Tunisian agriculture, and much economical research has been done on the same subject. However, an integrated study is still missing The present paper carries out an analysis of the agricultural system in Tunisia by putting together the environmental resources and the economy in an integrated ecological economic system. Emergy analysis provides a suitable tool for evaluating the natural resource basis cf the agricultural sector in Tunisia and its sustainability. For the purpose, an ecological-economic network is constructed on the basis of agricultural statistical data, emergy flows and several emergy indices are calculated in order to assess the sustainability of the system and recommend some elements of public policies in response to the two conflicting targets
