Abstract
Comparison of identical emission reduction measures under different meteorological conditions P. Mieth, S. Unger GMD - Research Institute for Computer Architecture and Software Technology, Rudower Chaussee 5, 12489 Berlin, Germany ABSTRACT A measuring campaign of ozone and its precursor substances in the region of Berlin-Brandenburg was accompanied by computer simulations with the mesoscale model REGOZON. REGOZON is an Eulerian meteorological and transport model with an incorporated photochemical module. The model region Berlin-Brandenburg is characterized by a densely popu- lated city with high emissions which is embedded in a sparsely populated area with low emission levels. Such a situation is expected to display clearly the effects of anthropogenic emissions. Although ozone production has to be regarded as a regional rather than an urban phenomenon measurements and simulations show a considerable ozone production in lee side areas of Berlin. It was fo
