Abstract
The place to realise a reduction of acidifying emissions can be optimised as a function of the maximal benefit to the local ecosystems. This paper illustrates a possible approach to decide on the optimal location for a deNOx-deSOx at one of three coal-fired 300 MWe power plants in Northern Belgium. The IFDM model is used to calculate the acid depositions that are required for the impact assessment of the resulting emission reduction on the local ecosystems. The calculated depositions, using all known SOz and NO* emissions in Flanders, Belgium, 1991, are compared with measured acid deposition and with the values reported by EMEP for Belgium. 1 Introduction One of the Belgian electri
