Abstract
The main goal of the present work has been the application of a very simple and fast approach to urban environment modeling, giving still acceptable evaluation of the air quality in different conditions but also limiting the computational effort. A numerical simulation of an urban area in Italy has been performed: the Photochemical Box Model (PBM) has been applied to model the impact of transports over Florence both in winter and in summer seasons. Meteorological data have been acquired from the local Meteorological and Air Quality Network. Vehicle distribution has been derived from information given by the automotive industry, and emissions have been evaluated following the European Standards. An experimental study on exhaust concentrations for a number of vehicles has be
