Abstract
This study deals with an automated method of an individual finite-element model of a bone based on the three-dimensional CT data. The method consists of two processes. First, an approximate model is formed by tetrahedral elements. Secondly, the model is transformed by moving all nodal points so that the model is fitted to the outer shape of the bone. We applied the method to a human lumbar vertebra and showed that the method generates the exact finite-element model and serves the detailed stress distribution under a load
