Several impacts of the 7.62 NATO projectile against ceramic faced armours backed by polyethylene or aramid plates were made. This armour was backed by an additional fibrous armour, separated by the former by an air chamber 7 mm thick. This latter armour was made of aramid fabric. The response of the target plates was modelled numerically using an erosion model previously presented in the literature and further modified by the authors to feat composit
