Abstract
A study of long rod penetration into steel targets J. Buchar,* R. Cortes^ & C. The projectiles were launched using a sabot technology, and impacted against a 2m x 2m square plates of thicknesses ranging from 0.2 to 0.4 m. A total of 49 impacts were made. Projectile lengths to diameter ratios of l/d=12, l/d=18 and l/d=25 were considered. Impact velocities ranged from 1400 m/s to 2300 m/s. The penetration depth for each experiment was determined.
