In order to achieve a higher buckling load, one may enlarge the cross section of the element, improve the boundary conditions, or put in an elastic support in the middle of the member. A single cross-arm stayed column has been proposed as an efficient system. In this paper the analytical expressions of the buckling load for a single cross-arm stayed column with pin joints between cross-arm and column are established. The influence of the structural morphology and the material properties are investigated. A tool for designing these members is presented. Furthermore the stayed column is compared to a diamond structure and a simple column with regard
