Z~rofessor, National Technical University of Athens, Greece 31"' Ephoreia of Byzantine Antiquities, Ministry of Culture, Athens, Greece Abstract The Byzantine monastery of Dafni, already inscribed in the world heritage list of UNESCO, is one of the most important monuments of middle Byzantine period, famous worldwide for the excellent mosaics of the Katholikon. Being in a highly seismic area, the monastery suffered throughout its history a large number of earthquakes that caused many structural problems and damages to its mosaics. This presentation focuses on the emergency measures undertaken by the Greek Ministry of Culture after the earthquake of September 7~
