Abstract
Using reinforced concrete yoke to strengthen arch bridge: fracture mechanism analysis and computation mode J.T. Zhou Department of Bridge and Structural Engineering, Chongqing Jiao tong University, P.R. China Abstract The technology of using a reinforced yoke to strengthen arch bridge is newly developed by the author of the present paper. Application of the technology to five bridges as well as a series of mode experiments have seen desired results. In light with the fracture mechanical theory, the paper discusses the role of the said technology in keeping the arch bridge cracks from further developing and in bettering the forcing property of bridge. The mechanical computation mode of the new technology is thereupon proposed. The views presented in the paper are expected to help improve the existing theory about bridge strengthening. 1 Introduction As known to all, the safety of vehicle transport requires the bridges to have enough bearing capability, and in the present world, a certain numbe
