Abstract

Ancient civic palace of Saluzzo: strengthening works G. Pistone', F. Antoninol & D. Zorgniottil 1 ~urin Polytechnic, Italy Abstract Within the framework of a project for the restoration and functional upgrading of the Ancient Civic Palace of Saluzzo, in the course of the works performed in 1998 under the guidance of architect Marco Tanga, the authors were asked to investigate the causes of static damage and to draw up the strengthening project. The drafting of the strengthening project was preceded by a series of analyses carefully planned out in order to determine the probable causes of deterioration of the building. The analyses supplied sufficient data to formulate an interpretation of the structural behaviour of the Palace and to draw up the strengthening project.
