Abstract
This paper presents a new integration technique implemented in AUTODYN for a wide class of elastic-viscoplastic materials with plastic strain hardening and rate dependence. A modified explicit integration scheme has shown to eliminate unstable behavior for materials with stiff strain hardening and rate-sensitivity. It can also be used as a trial step for more complicated implicit schemes. Results of test calculations are shown for widely used Johnson-Cook and Zerilli-Armstrong strength models.
