Abstract

In the course of China’s urbanization, more and more serious traffic jams and environmental pollution hinder urban modernization. Urban light rail, which is characterized by its large transport volume, high speed, little pollution, and traffic safety is becoming the shining spot in China’s urban traffic construction. The railway corporations occupy favorable positions in the planning, constructing and running of urban light rail because railway has many similarities with urban light rail in technology, equipment and management. For many reasons, a large part of the assets of railway hubs are set aside over a long period of time in China. Owing to the superiority of geographical position, resources and technology, these assets contain large potential value in the development of urban light rail. From the point of the development of China’s urban light rail in future, this thesis analyses the superiority of the assets of railway hub in the construction of urban light rail, and studies the concrete ways of utilizing the idle assets of railway hub to construct urban light rail on this basis.
