Abstract An explicit time integration scheme utilizing finite element/finite volume approach to analyze three-dimensional structure and fluid behavior and their interaction is outlined in the paper. This method is checked for two-dimensional motion of a tank with rigid boundaries against presently available and generally accepted two-dimensional analysis tool. A procedure to evaluate fluid motion, maximum pressure and maximum stress in tank structure is outlined. A three- dimensional sloshing experiment is reported and comparison of experimental results with computer simulation results is pr
